Theater Arts

Program Overview:

The GHS Theater Arts program offers a variety of challenging and creative opportunities for learning the art and craft of theater. Our program encompasses the ten academic courses for Theater performance and training, the two backstage technical theater and design courses, and the ten co-curricular school productions presented throughout the year. The multiple, varied, and unique ways by which Theater education and Theater production intersect is how our award winning department brings theater to students. Half of our courses are beginning courses and welcome students of all levels of ability and interest to a supportive, creative, and safe learning environment in which they acquire outstanding theater performance skills. Many courses also develop their interpretive and evaluative skills in practical workshop settings. All courses have as their fundamental goals: teaching students to work creatively and cooperatively, liberating and focusing expression, and developing confidence and mutual respect.

For a full overview of the courses offered by the Theater Department, please see the GHS Course of Study Guide.
