Cardinal Stadium

In the 2018 school year, Greenwich Public Schools completed the Cardinal Field Feasibility Study with the goal to determine improvements could best meet our students’ athletic needs and provide the general public with a facility that offers a more accessible and inviting facility.

Upon approval, the $20M GHS Cardinal Field Improvement Project began. This option included replacing the bleachers, improving field lighting and the speaker system, adding a through road, relocating the tennis courts and adding a building serving as the ticket gate and facilities complete with ADA accessible bathrooms, team rooms and concession.

Construction began with the demolition of the existing bleachers in December 2020.  GPS officially broke ground on the new stadium on March 2021 and our first home game was played in our new stadium on
October 2, 2021.
