Water Polo - Boys
Message from the Coaches:
Athletes interested in trying out for the water polo team this fall should email Jimmy Ramaley so they can be added to the team distribution list.
Water polo at GHS is a unique sport and our schedule is different than most sports offered. Since we have four teams vying for pool time during the fall season (boy’s water polo varsity and JV and girl’s swimming varsity and JV) our practice schedule varies day to day. In terms of our competition schedule there are only a few local teams to play therefore we travel consistently including to Maryland, Pennsylvania and California. Our student-athletes are asked to do a lot and the season can be challenging for incoming freshmen getting adjusted to high school life and added responsibilities.
Students should join the sportsYou group for their sport as soon as they register for the season. Tryout information is on sportsYou.Schedule is as follows:
- Players should be able swim a 100-freestyle under 1:10 and be competent in the sport. Players should also be able to perform basic calisthenics.
- Tryouts are mandatory.
- Due to limited time and pool space, we typically carry around 36 players total. If numbers are too big there may be cuts.
